High contrast and healthy usually pull in opposite directions. This one manages both: bright, almost white through the face frame, soft and sandy at the crown, and still moving like hair rather than sitting there like straw. That balance is the whole job.

The starting point

Roughly four inches of dark regrowth, gold banding through the mid-lengths from previous lightening, and pale, over-processed ends. Three levels on one head, and the ends already at their limit.

When the ends are already fragile, the answer is not more lightener on the ends. It is to lift what needs lifting, leave alone what does not, and make up the rest of the distance with tone. That is what the technique below is doing.

Technique

Applied weaves and slices to maintain softness while achieving a high-contrast, healthy blonde. Weaves keep the blend soft; slices give the contrast. Using both is exactly what stops a high-contrast blonde looking stripey — the weaves dissolve the edges that the slices create.

Formula

Two different tones front and back is the detail most people miss, and it is the reason this does not read flat. The face frame is what you see in the mirror and what a camera picks up, so it gets the brighter, cleaner 10/. The back carries a touch more warmth through the 10/36, so the whole head still reads dimensional from behind instead of washing out into one solid block of white.

And the root is not lifted to the skin. That deliberate shadow is what buys the client time between appointments and keeps the scalp out of harm’s way. A blonde that has been taken to the scalp looks incredible for a fortnight and then needs booking again.
