Plenty of people in the Gympie region have been told the same thing: for laser, for pigmentation, for anything clinical, you will need to drive to Noosa or Maroochydore. La Mode was built to make that unnecessary. We invested in medical-grade IPL, Nd:YAG laser and Ultrapeel microdermabrasion and put a proper private treatment room behind the salon floor.
The hair side has never taken a back seat to it. We colour on Wella Professionals and Goldwell, finish with ghd, fit Amore extensions, install Knotty Boy dreads and do the creative colour work most salons in a town this size will not attempt.
Seventeen years in, a lot of our clients have been with us for most of that time, and plenty of them now bring their daughters in for their first proper colour. That is the part we are proudest of.

The stylist who starts your appointment is the one who finishes it. You are not handed between three people while someone else’s colour develops.

If what you are asking for will damage your hair or will not work on your skin, we will say so and offer you a route that does — even when that means a smaller booking today.

Every hair removal area is priced on the website. Salon work is quoted before we book you, not tallied up at the counter afterwards.

If you are not happy when you leave the chair, tell us and we will put it right. That has been the deal since 2008.

Free, and mandatory. Nobody gets laser or IPL at La Mode without a consultation and a signed form identifying contraindications.
Loretta opened La Mode in 2008 and has run it ever since. Seventeen years on she is still behind the chair rather than behind a desk, which is the simplest explanation for why the standard has held: the person whose name is on the door is the person checking the work.
Her decision to put a clinical treatment room behind a regional hair salon is the one that shaped the business. It meant investing in medical-grade IPL, Nd:YAG laser and Ultrapeel microdermabrasion for a town most suppliers would tell you is too small for it — and it is why clients no longer have to drive to the Sunshine Coast.
She has also kept La Mode a training salon. Apprentices learn on this floor alongside stylists and master stylists, and a good share of Gympie’s hairdressers have come through it.
