How is this hair even REAL. That was the whole note that came with this one, and we knew exactly what it meant. Some hair just catches the light differently. It looks soft, it moves, and it holds a shape without looking like it has been made to. That is the result here, hair by Lou, and it is the kind of finish people notice from across the room.
There is no trick to it and no filter. What looks unreal in a photo is really three things lining up: the colour, the condition, and the way it is dried in. Get those right and hair photographs like this every time. Get one of them wrong and you can feel it the second you run your fingers through it.

What makes hair look almost unreal
It is not the brightness, and it is not the length. It is the contrast between light and shadow inside the hair. When colour is applied in fine, deliberate sections, you get soft ribbons of lighter hair moving through deeper tones, and the eye reads that as depth. Flat, single-tone colour goes dull the moment it leaves the salon, because there is nothing in it to catch the light.
The second piece is condition. Dry, rough ends will never photograph the way you want them to, no matter how good the colour is. A smooth cuticle reflects light; a roughed-up one scatters it. That is why bond-building through the service and a proper finishing routine matter as much as the colour itself.
How a finish like this is built
Every colour service at La Mode starts with a consultation. A proper one, where we look at your hair in daylight, talk about how much upkeep you are honestly willing to do, and agree on a plan. If you want a big change, we will tell you what it takes to get there and how many visits it might need. You can read more about how we work before you book.
From there, the work is in the sectioning. Whether a look is built with foils, free-hand painting or a combination of both, fine sections are what keep the result soft. Thick sections leave blocks and bands that show up the second the hair is dried straight. A lift like this usually sits for a set time, then gets rinsed, treated and toned. The toner is the step that removes any unwanted warmth and settles the colour into something that suits your skin rather than fighting it.

Then there is the cut. Colour cannot fix hair that is too heavy through the ends. Taking weight out and putting shape back through the lengths is what gives hair that swing, so it falls into place instead of sitting flat against your neck. Cutting and colour work together, which is why we do both in the one chair. Our salon services cover the whole job from start to finish.
The last ten minutes are the ones people underestimate. A proper blow-dry with the right brush, a drop of finishing oil or serum through the ends, and a cool shot to close everything down. That is what turns good colour into hair that looks almost too good to be true.
Keeping it right between visits
Home care does most of the heavy lifting once you leave the salon. Use a sulphate-free shampoo and conditioner, wash less often than you think you need to, and work a mask through the mid-lengths and ends once a week. Heat protection before straighteners or a wand, every single time. A little prevention saves a lot of length.
Book a gloss or tone refresh every six to eight weeks if you like your colour to stay exactly as it looked on day one. Plenty of clients stretch further and let it soften, which is a look in itself, but if you like it crisp, keep the appointment. Trims every eight to twelve weeks stop split ends travelling up the shaft, and that is one of the few things that genuinely cannot be reversed. Current service pricing is on our pricing page.
