“Long blonde and luscious” is how Mia summed this one up, and it is an accurate description of what left the chair: length kept soft through the mid-lengths, light carried right down to the ends, and a blonde that still reads as hair rather than a flat block of colour.

Long blonde is the most requested look we do at La Mode, and it is the one that punishes shortcuts hardest. More length means more old colour to lift, more hair to keep in condition, and more chance for the mid-lengths to pick up a tone the ends do not want. That is why the consultation matters more here than on almost any other service. It is where we work out how much lift the hair can take today and how much gets left for next time, and there is more on how we run that conversation on the about page.
What this look is
A long blonde like this is built around light and depth working together. The bright pieces travel from around the face and the parting back through the sides, so the colour catches the light as the hair moves. Depth sits underneath them, and that is what stops the whole thing reading flat and keeps regrowth from announcing itself six weeks later.
On hair past the shoulders, the ends have usually seen more colour, more sun and more heat than the top has. They lift differently and they hold tone differently. Working with that instead of against it is the difference between long blonde that looks healthy and long blonde that looks tired.
This one was coloured by Mia on Wella Professionals, and the finish is deliberately soft. No hard line where the blonde begins, no cool grey cast sitting over warm lengths. Plenty more of this kind of work sits under blondes if you want to see how it lands on different lengths and skin tones.
How a long blonde is built

Blondes on this much length are almost always a foiling job rather than a single-process colour. Fine, even sections, worked from the nape up, with the top and the front checked against the sides as we go. The face frame gets the most attention, because that is the part you see every morning in the mirror and the part that shows every flaw in the placement.
Lifting happens in stages. A lift that has to travel several levels on long hair needs to be taken slowly, with bond-building products in the mix and a close eye on how the hair feels as it processes. Rushing that step is what turns long blonde into breakage, and no toner rescues compromised hair. If the hair tells us it has had enough for one visit, we stop there and finish the lift next time.
Once the lift is where it needs to be, tone goes on. A toner neutralises unwanted warmth and settles the blonde into something wearable, whether that is a clean creamy result or one with a little more warmth left in it. A gloss run over the mid-lengths and ends adds shine and closes the cuticle down, which is most of what people mean when they say a blonde looks expensive.
Keeping it right between visits
Long blonde asks more of your routine at home than shorter colour does, simply because there is more of it to damage.
- Wash less often and cooler. Hot water and daily shampooing strip tone faster than anything else.
- Use a sulphate-free shampoo and a conditioner heavy enough for the length, working it from the mid-lengths down.
- Heat protection every single time before a dryer, straightener or curler. ghd work is the usual culprit on long hair.
- A bonding treatment once a week, left on for the time on the bottle, keeps the ends from going dry between visits.
- Book a root and tone refresh when the regrowth starts to bother you, and a trim with it to keep the ends sitting properly.

A full foil usually runs three to four months apart for most clients, with a toner in between. Your own timing depends on how fast your hair grows and how light you have gone. We will tell you honestly at the first appointment what your hair will need, and the full list of services and prices is on the pricing page.
