Some jobs you like, and some you cannot stop looking at. Charli’s was the second kind. The caption we posted was one word — obsessed — because that was the honest report from the chair, the mirror and the phone screen afterwards.
The reel is short on explanation and big on feeling, and that is fair enough. What it shows is a finish worth being pleased with. What it does not show is the consultation, the sectioning, the checking and the rechecking that got it there, so that is what we will talk about here.
What we are actually obsessed with
Stylists rarely get excited because a look was complicated. We get excited because it landed. That means a few things at once: even tone from the roots through the mid-lengths to the ends, a shape that moves rather than sits, and enough shine that the light does half the work for you.
It also means it has to work away from the salon. A finish that only looks right under our lighting is not a finish. The test is a Tuesday morning, a windy Gympie day, a bathroom mirror and no stylist standing behind you. That is the standard we are chasing every time someone sits down, and it is why a client walking out pleased is worth more to us than anything on a shelf.
So when we say obsessed, we mean it in a professional way as well as a personal one. It is the look doing exactly what we said it would do.
How a finish like this gets built
Every appointment starts with a conversation, not a formula. We want to know what you have been using, how long it has been since your last visit, how much time you actually have in the morning, and what you did not like last time. That conversation is where the result is decided. Our standards are simple: the same stylist starts and finishes your hair, and you get a straight answer at the consult, including when the honest answer is that something will take two visits.
From there it is technique. Colour gets worked in fine, even sections so the development stays consistent. A lift like this usually needs to be built and watched rather than rushed, which is why we check it as it goes instead of guessing and hoping. We work with Wella Professionals and Goldwell, and the salon covers foils, balayage, full-head colour, colour correction and creative colour, so the plan gets built around what your hair will actually do rather than around what is quickest on the day.
Finishing is its own step. Once the colour is rinsed and conditioned, the cut and the blow-dry decide how the whole thing reads: where the weight sits, how the ends fall, whether the shape holds when you style it yourself at home. We would rather spend an extra ten minutes there than send you out with a look that only works in the chair.
Keeping it right between visits
Whatever you had done, the first two weeks at home decide how the next six look. Wash less often than you think you need to, use the professional product your stylist recommends rather than whatever is on special, and keep heat protection in the routine. Hot tools are the fastest way to dull a fresh finish.
For colour clients, a gloss or toner refresh somewhere in the middle of your appointments keeps the tone honest without a full redo. For everyone, book the next one before you leave. We can see the diary, we know how your ends are sitting and we will tell you honestly whether you are a six-week client or a ten-week one. If you would like to know what your appointment would cost before you come in, the pricing page is the place to look.
And if you are the kind of person who wants the finish that makes a stylist reach for their phone, that is exactly the appointment we like. Charli, thank you for sitting in the chair.
